Barksdale Sanford Tankersley born 11 Apr 1816 in Buncombe, North Carolina and died 6 Dec 1884 in Gorman, Eastland, Texas
Barksdale was also know as "Basil" or B.S. He was a peanut farmer.

Malinda Aby Poe Tankersley (Millie) born 7 Nov 1815 in Habersham County, Georgia and died 21 Feb 1901 in Gorman, Eastland, Texas
Millie Tankersley was the wife of Barksdale Tankersley. She birthed 12 children over the course of many years. She married Barksdale "Basil" 8 May 1832 in Carroll County, Georgia. She and her family moved from Georgia, to Benton County, Alabama, to Louisiana, to Arkansas, to Rusk County, Texas, and then to Gorman, Eastland, Texas, where she lived out the rest of life.

William Henry Tankersley
He was born on 10 Oct 1843 in Benton County, Alabama. He was the last child born before his parents began their journey across the plains which would eventually lead them to Texas. He died 18 Jul 1912 in Gorman, Eastland, Texas and is buried in Elm Cemetery. He married Molinda E. Tankersley and they together had 4 children. After her death in 1883, he remarried a woman named Caledonia Emmiline Bishop and together they had 5 more children. Bill Tankersley was the 7th child of Barksdale Sanford "Basil" Tankersley and Malinda Aby "Millie" Poe.

Molinda E. Tankersley
This is the first wife of William Henry Tankersley and the mother of 4 children. She was born 22 Oct 1852 in Missouri and she died 23 Feb 1883 in Gorman Eastland, Texas. She is buried next to William in Elm Cemetery.

Edgar A. Tankersley
Little Edgar was born 24 Mar 1878 in Gorman, Eastland, Texas and he died 21 Jul 1881. He is buried by his parents, William Henry and Molinda E. Tankersley in Elm Cemetery in Gorman, Eastland, Texas.


Sally Vern Toney Davis
This is the headstone of my Granny Sally. She was born 15 May 1895 in Canadian District, McIntosh, Oklahoma. She lived in Texanna all of her life and died 8 Sep 1988 in the home of her daughter, Florence Davis Cochran. She was a wonderful and sweet woman, with a knack for telling old Indian legends and stories. Everyone who was around her, always ended up smiling. She is very missed. She was the daughter of Levi and Susan Fields Toney.
