Official Website of the Cherokee

This is the Official Website for the Cherokee Nation. There are many helpful links for the Cherokee People, in genealogy research, housing, education, history, and much, much more. Please explore this site and learn about the heritage and culture.

Robert Zidlicky (Tullos, May, Tankersley)
Robert Zidlicky has done immense research on the Tullos and May lines. The May line enters the Tankersley line a few generations back. James Fountain Tankersley (my great great grandfather) married Nancy Angeline May (my great great grandmother), who was the daughter of William May and Nancy Tullos.

Belinda Hughes (Tankersley, Thornhill)
Belinda Hughes has done reasearch on the Thornhill line, which like the pre-1500 Tankersley line, was a difficult one.
Sarah M. White (Parker, Gaines, Green)
Sarah White had done extensive research on the Parker, Gaines, Green, and many other lines. Her site has several pictures of family members and a wealth of information including sources and other links to helpful sites.
GenCircles
Gencircles has a neat feature called Smart Match that allows you to upload your GEDCOM file to theirs and they automatically compare your files to everyone else's that has been loaded onto their site. They in turn send you a list of links to everyone that has the same names as you do. It saves a lot of search time and has gotten me in touch with many relatives that I would have never found otherwise. I highly recommend this site.
Rootsweb
Rootsweb is a very widely used general genealogy site. It contains a search engine that can put you in touch with many other sites and searches. Also, it has a place for you to submit your GEDCOM so that others can search your files and contact you if there is a match. It also has a link to the Social Security Death Index as well as many others, including European searches. You can find my entire GEDCOM that I submitted on this site as well as others.

A special Thanks to all of my family and friends for all of the help. There is a lot of time and personal effort and pains that has gone into the finding of this information.
